"We have come to fish for the herring fish That live in this beautiful sea; Nests of silver and gold have we!"  Said Wynken, Blynken and Nod.
Remember the wonderful lyrics of your childhood songs? Eugene Field wrote poetry.  There's not much comparable in children's music today.
Terry Grosvenor wanted to return to the lyricism of Lewis Carroll, Eugene Field, James Whitcomb Riley, Laura Richards and others to acquaint today's children with positive images.
Grosvenor and her husband, Rick, have been summer residents of Wolfeboro since 1976.  He's been coming here since the mid 1960s with his family.  So, it was only natural that they bring their new tape "Fun Songs for Tadpoles to Frogs" to local outlets.
It's Terry's second album and contains 14 songs, 12 of which are based on a collection of classic poems set to music.  Two songs contain completely original lyrics, "Mr. Bus Driver" and "Jungle Fever."  All the songs on the album are composed, arranged, performed and sung by Terry, with the exception of two - one sung by her daughter, Amanda, the other by Anne Stillman, Terry's mother.
Terry Taffinder Grosvenor, mother of four children ages 12, 10, 7 and 5, has been composing and song-writing for more than 20 years and currently produces children's music.
The Grosvenors live in Newport, R.I., where her work can be heard weekly on the WADK

children's radio show, "Listen to You."  She put together her first album under R&T Grosvenor Publishing for the Girl Scouts.  It's a collection of 20 camp songs and is marketed through the Girl Scout Shop.
She and Rick wrote the theme song for The World Scholar Athlete Games held in June 1993 in Rhode Island.  It was performed by the 110-voice international WSAG choir at the Providence Civic Center before 8,000 people.
Terry earned a bachelor of arts degree from Connecticut College where she majored in art history.  But she embarked on a career as a performer almost immediately out of college and has held a variety of positions in and out of the recording industry. She won first prize for best female singer/songwriter in the Sao Paulo music festival and studied classical guitar and samba while living in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
She has a long time affiliation with the Girl Scouts and teaches classes in Newport schools.
Local residents will remember that Rick taughtat Brewster Academy, where he was head of the art department for a year.  He and his two brothers had a gallery called The Fat Hunter behind the Old Colonial Arms on Mill Street.
They come by their talent naturally, being the sons of Richard Grosvenor, a water colorist and landscape painter, one of the foremost artists in Newport. His work has been purchased by Jackie Onassis, and William F. Buckley commissioned six of his works to hang on Buckley's yacht.

Rick's in real estate now, in addition to being very much involved in the production of "positive, healthy children's music" with Terry.  He creates cover designs and is the recording engineer for Terry's tape albums.
Back in Wolfeboro again this summer, Terry is hard at work.  She does much of her composing in the summer months, gaining inspiration from the peace and quiet here.
"Fun Songs for Tadpoles to Frogs" is just what it says it is - fun songs.  In addition to lyrics that expose youngsters to classic works of children'sverse, the tape shows different perspectives on life and humor.
    Young listeners meet the

wicked, but handsome, "Pirate Don Durk of Dowdee," and Lewis Carroll's dancers in the "Lobster Quadrille."  They travel to China to hear the story of "Dilliki Dolliki Dinah" and come back home around the kitchen fire to hear "Little Orphant Annie's" witch tales.
There's a variety of rhythms offered, some that set toes tapping and others that might lull a youngster to sleep.  The tape is appropriate for children of all ages.
It can be purchased locally at Stay Tuned, The Country Bookseller and Black's Country Store.  Inquiries should be directed to the publisher, R&T Grosvenor Publishing, PO Box 1281, Newport, RI 02840.
